Very quick question! I have looked at team based RPs like this before, always with much fondness and longing, haha, but! I am UK based, and quite often that doesn't allow for much timezone correlation. In more freeform RP that isn't such a problem, but when it comes to team-based activities like the sort that would (presumably) transpire here, I've always assumed that would become an issue. I'm consistently likely to not be online for the duration of team games (and I work during the day so can't even afford to stay up too late except a couple of nights a week). How is that going to work out in the case of a game like this? After all, I really wouldn't want to penalise a team with my presence, you know?

I absolutely accept that I just might not be viable. That's okay! I certainly wouldn't expect anything to change of account of my interest (and heck, I might still ultimately decide I don't have enough time anyway). But I thought it couldn't possible hurt to ask, haha. & just to clarify, I'm on GMT (British Summer Time). IT IS 9.32AM HERE.

First and foremost, neither you nor your team will be penalized for you missing games. If you can make activity, you're golden.

Back in Sabra, we usually tried to schedule games at a time that was good for American and Asian time zones, but we only had a couple of GMT players and they were late-night masochists, so there didn't end up being much in the way of GMT-friendly events. If there is demand for them in this RP, we can make absolutely it happen. Most of the games will be player-run once things get rolling, so hopefully there will be fun things for everyone to do.

All that having been said, there's really no helping that you are likely going to miss a good chunk of the events and plot. I'm sure people would be happy to catch you up, but I know that's not the same, so I would think about whether that is going to be a factor that will make things less fun for you. I think that probably ought to be the bottom line.

I have a question about characters with multiple personalities! For example, Echo here has 36 (and counting) personalities that she explicitly states aren't her. She has a separate personality and persona (as it were) that's just Echo, instead of Elanor Penn, Taffy, any of the other "chorus girls." A caveat is that she uses the skills these other personalities have in order to get by (e.g. Spanish from Eleanor Penn, medical knowledge from Rebecca Mynor, how to break into and out of places from Taffy. etc).

Would Echo come in with all 36 of those personalities still in her? Or would it be just Echo?

As a bottom line, I'm not going to ask anybody to chop their character's MPD. Even if an additional personality were magical or something (which it obviously isn't in Echo's case, but just for the sake of posterity), I think it's pretty drastic to completely alter something so integral to one's characterization just for the sake of a power cap. (Of course, if playing as just Echo were something you wanted to experiment with, that could be arranged at some point in-game).

I do think she'll lose some of her physical functionality, since muscle memory would be nonexistent in fresh clones. As for her mental abilities, there's some wiggle room in there, ICly caused by signal interference/data transfer errors/what have you.

In general, I would recommend that you and anybody else who is apping a character with a seemingly limitless set of abilities tone them down somewhat, if only for your own ease of play (may as well just nip that whole "ack my character is smarter than me" problem right in the bud). Unless it becomes a problem, however, I'd prefer to leave the hard details to player discretion.

OKAY it occurs to me that re: organic life forms.

What about spirits? In this particular case, heroic spirits have 'bodies' that work like you expect them to, but they maintain their form via a flow of mana instead of just. existing on their own. Could Glados theoretically keep them around and give them clonebodies?

Question about events! Are events going to be a regular thing--every Friday at 7 or something like that? Or more like Sabra where they were scheduled at random? Also, will there be much going on before cores are around to run tests? Will it be mostly team mingling for the first few weeks?

Like Sabra - scheduled when people want and can run them.

I've been planning for the first OOC week to be nothing but team-bonding, with the teams sequestered. They won't just be mingles - there will be actual things for them to do. And GLaDOS will run the first big test that weekend. Possibly the next couple, if necessary. I want to see how the pacing flows early on before committing to a hard schedule for anything beyond that.

But core apps will open very early, and I'll likely be giving out a couple cores ahead of time to people who have already been discussing their ideas with me, just so I don't get overwhelmed running all the early events by myself.

Do clone bodies keep their canon scars? I know you've mentioned eyepatches already, but this is something that is specific but less destructive than a missing eye. (The character in question looks like this.)

On the whole I would say no, but in this case, much like eyepatches, if it's going to make iconing miserable for you, exceptions can be made.

In the case of the very first game, you can assume that you didn't get out of the hotel room fast enough and GLaDOS locked you back in there.

All other games, you can assume that the character is playing hookey or just didn't hear the announcement.

QUESTION since Loki is actually a Frost Giant and actually looks blue, can I keep his Asguardian appearance instead?

I've been playing under the assumption that the food comes on plastic trays/plates with plastic cutlery, but I know a couple people seem to be playing under the assumption that it's actual silverware and/or there is also glass! Can we have a clarification?

This may be a bit silly, but just to check: If I wanted to app a character whose body isn't organic (like a robot/doll/etc.), would they be given an organic version of their body? Or would they be in a clone of their inorganic body?

Completely inorganic characters aren't appable, especially robots. There are some gray areas - like the Fate cast or dead characters - but generally speaking, if the character doesn't have (or never had) an organic body, there wouldn't be anything to clone.

If you could tell me a little more about the character I can reply more specifically.

Just a quick "little detail" question! The points section of this journal mentions you spend points in the room, and gives a link to the ooc points doc, but it doesn't say if there's an ic list displayed anywhere in the room, or if we have an ic notice of what our points went to or anything.

In other words, if Batman wants a batarang, is there a list he can check for a batarang or would he have to (or be assumed to have) asked GLaDOS directly, and if he buys a batarang, would Superman then later glance at the screen and see -300 points - Batarang for Batman or sthing? Or is it just YOUR POINTS ARE 600 WHOOPS SUDDENLY THEY'RE 300.

That's a good idea! The computers will show a team its purchase history on request (not any other team's, though). The records say what was bought, when, and by whom.

Question about the first aid kits! Can there be an option for stuff like burn gel, tweezers, topical anesthetics? Like an Advanced First Aid Kit II or something? Since disinfectant, bandages/sutures & painkillers is still super basic.

I was really just blanking out on things the day I added the first aid stuff, so I'll be including the burn gel and tweezers in the advanced kit. Anesthetic will get it's own category/price. o7

Re: Books! Characters have no choice in the selection. If they buy a book, they'll get a random title. Ping one of us and we'll tell you what you got.

Do the clones heal from injuries at the same rate as normal real world humans?

It should be faster! Basically, broken bones and near-fatal maimings and things of a similar level of severity should take about an IC week to heal, and you can scale down the healing rate from there. This should allow enough time to play out the consequences of getting maimed without dragging out into unfun territory for players.

I have a question about the Relaxation Vaults. Is it possible to share a vault with someone? Or if not share it with someone can another character come into your vault if they'd like? Or is it 'NOPE SOLITARY CONFINEMENT!/lololol' ?

This shouldn't be so hard of a question to convey but I feel as if I'm not getting my point across. I hope I am. Help?

I think I get what you're asking? Only dropped characters live in relaxation vaults; active characters have shared quarters with their team that they can divvy up however they like.

Alright, this is a weirdly complex question. In canon, Leo can constantly see gold specks from the Abyss wherever he is, and in turn that light is reflected in his eyes. Obviously this might not be the case in this world and with his clone.

I'd like to keep this effect in his eyes, so I was thinking that either the robots that were detailing the clone were ambitious in this aspect (he doesn't see the lights, but his eyes show them anyway) or that there might be some sort of minor defect with the vision of his clone where he still sees these lights (both seeing and the lights reflecting in his eyes).

Suggestions? Thoughts?


ANNNND one more question - are the team individual bedrooms modeled after the see through rooms in Portal with the same furniture or are they modeled after very clean, plain, bedrooms with a normal bed, solid walls, etc.

As long as he's not gaining any fancy powers from his vision, it should be completely fine to leave the flecks in as you like. (Either option you listed works. Maybe the robots literally put gold flecks in his eyes! :Db Though of course that's only a suggestion.) We're generally fine with physical defects or special cases like that being kept since some characters have eye patches or really obvious tattoos that would be a huge pain to edit icons for, so I don't see why it couldn't apply to Leo's vision too.

As for the bedrooms, they're more like the clean, plain bedrooms with solid walls.
