CONTACT/TEAM PREFERENCES

A comment separate from your app with your name, email, and team preferences. Making it a separate comment lets us keep it screened, thus keeping your team preferences private.

For the time zone field, feel free to make a note if working bizarre hours makes you effectively on a different time zone than stated.

"Team preferences" is a catch-all field for any thoughts you might have regarding your character's placement. For example, you might want a team that will put up with your character's sociopathy, or has a certain "feel" to it, or is friendly to your time zone, or maybe you don't think your character looks good in orange, and so on! This is also the spot to let us know if there are teams you DON'T want to be on. While you're not required to put anything here, don't say you have no preference unless you really, honestly have NOTHING to say on the subject! If you've already apped and realized you'd forgotten something? Make another comment!

Character Name: self-explanatory
Canon: If the canon has multiple versions, please be specific.
Reference Link: A wiki link is preferable, but anything that has a summary of the canon works. If there is no picture on your link, please provide a reference picture as well. If there is really nothing to link, write a short (no more than 200 words) description of the canon and character appearance.

Character History: A brief summary of your character's background. Only the highlights, please! This section should not be more than 300 words long.
Personality: Can be longer than the history, if necessary, but again, please try to be succinct.

Character Name: Alfons Heiderich
Canon: Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: The Conqueror of Shamballa. (Set after the end of the 2003 anime series.)

Character History: Alfons Heiderich grew up in Germany through the first World War, where he lost his parents. His intelligence saved him from a worst life, as it eventually led to him learning rocketry from Herman Oberth in Rome.

At 15, he would meet another young genius, Edward Elric. A strange young man who always told odd stories about another world that he ‘came from.’ Alfons was pretty sure he was insane.

Alfons couldn’t ignore a stray, so invited Edward to live with him in Munich when his father left. They became close over two years despite Edward’s distance and insanity. Alfons health also started to take a turn for the worse, but he hid it.

A carnival trip changed everything. First in the fact their rocket building group got a sponsor, but also in meeting Noah, a gypsy who can read the hearts of others. Alfons and Edward hid her from the men after her. A short time later, Edward met with his ‘brother’ and said he’d be able to go home.

Alfons threw himself into his work, knowing his time was short and angry that his friend could talk about leaving so easily. They ended up having a fight where Alfons called him out on his distance and Edward found out about his illness.

Later that night, he’d learn that Edward was not insane and that the people he was working for did want to use Edward’s world for war. Not sure how he could stop any of the rest, Alfons decided the least he could do was sneak Edward into a one man rocket and send him home. Shortly before he was shot and killed himself.

Personality:
Alfons is a very kind young man. While he’s still bitter to the government for their actions at the end of the world, he doesn’t hold the bitterness to ‘outsiders’ as many others around him did. He’d often take in those others would throw on the street. He’s especially incapable of ignoring those who seem to be lonely, partly because of his own feelings of loneliness.

He desperately wants to leave a mark on the world. Sometimes to the detriment to his health or even his relationships. The former far more than the latter.

Alfons is a very empathic boy. He’s very patient, willing to humor people and when he thinks they have problems ‘facing reality,’ will be very gentle in his coaxing them to reality. He’s good at understanding people and their feelings. He’s also able to keep himself composed under pressure. He’s very calm and rather rational.

However, despite his own sensitivity to others feelings, he’s rather terrible at expressing himself. He’d rather bury his own problems behind a smile and just quietly support or coax others. Including anger. Maybe he’ll be passive aggressive, but usually he’ll bury anger and pain for a long time until eventually it becomes too much and he’ll snap, quickly losing his composure and rationality.

He’s extremely intelligent, becoming a rocket scientist at a young age. He can become extremely focused while studying, even shutting out the rest of the world. While he’s willing to humor the more superstitious things, he’s scientifically minded and doesn’t really believe it. However, with recent proof of ‘other worlds,’ he’s inclined to be more open minded. And he can adjust well even when his reality is rather thoroughly broken.

He’s extremely determined and will follow through on a goal to the best of his ability. Ultimately, though, others will almost always come before him if it’s within his ability to help them.

01. If given a choice, what would you like to be called?
Well, Alfons Heiderich is my name. Most of my co-workers call me Heiderich and my friends call me Alfons.

02. Do you require socks to be part of your uniform?
Yes? Socks make shoes more comfortable.

03. Not including mandatory periods of silence, what is the longest you have gone without talking?
I’ve never really timed it, but I’d say hours. I can get really absorbed in my work and I can easily lose track of time.

04. Are you plagued by suspicions that other people, including coworkers and relatives, may be doing things behind your back that will hurt you?
Wha-of course not!

Not that they can’t do it on accident…

Though the government might be doing that. They certainly aren’t helping.

05. Other than a large egret, what wild animal would you like to domesticate?
A wild animal, huh? Hmm, maybe something like a fox? They’re really cute animals, but you don’t really get to see them as pets. That might be nice.

06. Are you functionally incapacitated by witnessing other people's misery?
No. I don’t like seeing misery, but becoming ‘functionally incapacitated’ isn’t going to help them, is it?

07. What is your favorite flatware for, purely as an example, eating cake?
A small plate.

08. Do you trust yourself?
I do. I’ve made mistakes, sure, but I’ve also done a lot of goods things in trusting my own judgment. A lot of people deserve help that others would say I’m foolish for offering, but it usually works out.

09. Please list a crime that only you would know that you have committed.
Well, I have-no, wait, people know about that. And that. And that…

I have an officer who regularly asks if I’m boarding gypsy pickpockets, I think most people know what I do. It’s technically harboring criminals, but I don’t believe they were guilty.

I don’t think I’ve done anything that might be considered illegal and not have people know about it, actually.

10. If you disappeared tomorrow would anyone miss you?
… [The longest pause.] I like to think so.
