Character Name: Nakamori Aoko Canon: Magic Kaito Reference Link: http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Aoko_Nakamori Character History: Nakamori Aoko had a fairly standard, if lonely, upbringing. Her father—a single parent—was a busy man, after all; he was the head of the Kaitou Kid Taskforce, a police unit dedicated solely to bringing Kaitou Kid, an internationally wanted phantom thief, to justice. One fateful day, when Aoko was just a little girl, she waited all alone for her father by an old clocktower; she was didn't cry, just waited quietly, sadly, in the hopes that he'd have time to come get her. But her father wasn't the one who came. Instead, Kuroba Kaito walked up, introduced himself, and magicked a single rose out of thin air for her. It was the start of a long-lasting, beautiful friendship, full of bickering and violence and secret crushes.
Kaitou Kid ~mysteriously vanished~ when Aoko was nine, thus freeing her father from his arduous task/obsession. But, eight years later… he returned, and Aoko hated him with the fiery, burning passion of a thousand suns. Completely unaware that her dearest childhood friend Kaito was the man behind the monocle, Aoko would stand alone in crowds of cheering Kid fans, waving anti-Kid banners and yelling encouragement to her father. In fact, Aoko went great lengths to prove that Kaito wasn't Kid—when her father told her that he'd seen Kid's face, and that his face was definitely Kaito's, Aoko immediately made plans to drag Kaito out on a date… at exactly the same time as one of Kid's heists. Happily, he remained with her for the entire duration, and suspicion was cleared. She never realized that he slipped away when they were watching a movie, leaving a dummy in his place.
Personality: Aoko is a warm-hearted but temperamental tsundere, who has little trouble expressing her feelings through violence. Mop chases! Table flipping! Newspaper smacking and punching! Not that she'd ever mean to hurt really, truly hurt anybody; as willing as she would be to defend herself, there are lines that she would never cross. As a tsundere with a temper, the people closest to her are the ones who receive the brunt of her anger (especially Kaito, who is an obnoxious jerk). And, as caring and considerate as Aoko is underneath, when Kaito has dental problems, she makes sure to poke him in the cheek. A lot.
Cheerful and energetic, Aoko's pretty passionate about her beliefs—in fact, she's pretty passionate about most things, and incredibly expressive. It's almost as much of a cover as it is genuine: she's overly modest and has some self-esteem issues, and holds a quiet belief that she'll inevitably be left behind. At one point, she decides that a classmate must have a crush on Kaito: Aoko squees and wonders aloud that Kaito must really be great, if somebody as cool and beautiful as Akako likes him. Beneath her smile was resignation and pain. As much as she frequently berates Kaito for his big head, she'd quietly fade into the background rather than risk weighing him down.
She's a very caring young woman, and a determined one. She would always try to help somebody in need, just because she's sure that it's the right thing to do. When a 'ghost' terrorizes her friends at school after hours, she drags Kaito along to get revenge. When she meets a sickly child at a museum during a Kaitou Kid heist, she stays with him and tries to help him find his father. She almost always before she thinks of herself, and, occasionally, she's been known to be too trusting of shady characters.
